Customer Information

Our flock is NPIP certified/AI clean. By purchasing birds and hatching eggs from Pine Leaf Poultry, it is understood that you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • Pine Leaf Poultry reserves the right to cancel the sale of a bird at any time if it is in the best interest of the bird or Pine Leaf Poultry.

  • ​The buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping and box fees. These costs are in addition to the cost of the bird(s).

  • Birds are shipped in approved boxes, and boxes are chosen to best suit the size and number of birds. 

  • Birds are shipped with food and hydration.

  • All birds will be healthy at the time of shipment and pickup. Pine Leaf Poultry is not responsible for illness, injury or death once birds are out of our possession. We cannot control conditions during transit or after arrival and therefore cannot refund birds that arrive desceased, ill or injured- there are too many factors to consider.

  • Please note that USPS policy does not provide insurance coverage for deceased birds unless the box is destroyed and that damage was determined to be the cause of death. Birds arriving deceased alone do not qualify for an insurance claim. If an insurance claim is eligible, it is the responsibility of the customer to file the claim.

  • Shipping live birds and hatching eggs is a large financial gamble, and the price has increased. Please be aware of that when purchasing.

Minimum Order

 There is a minimum purchase of 3 chicks for local customers.

We will NOT be shipping chicks this year.  We may ship juveniles and adults.

Time Frame

Weather conditions on both the shipping and receiving locations must be suitable to shipping live animals. We will not ship birds in extreme hot or extreme cold.

Please note that we have a very small number of breeding birds. Stress, molting, broodiness, etc. can affect their egg laying. We will NOT be keeping a waitlist this year.

All available birds and chicks will be posted on our Facebook page when ready. Due to social media  algorithms, posts may not always appear in your feed. If you would like to be put on our notifications list, please contact us. This list is for notifications only and does not reserved birds.

Birds are shipped Mondays or Tuesdays only, and all shipments are sent Express- no exceptions. 

Age

We will NOT ship chicks this year. We may ship juveniles and adult birds.

Local chicks can be picked up at less than one week of age, except for silkies, which will be at least 1 week old at pickup.

We will also have started sexed pullets available for all breeds, including silkies

Hatching Eggs

We will be selling hatching eggs this year.

Please understand that hatching eggs are inherently difficult to hatch,  especially when shipped, and involve significant risk. Hatch rates vary widely, and it is possible for only a few-- or even zero-- eggs to hatch.

Because of this risk, hatching eggs cannot be replaced or refunded. By purchasing hatching eggs, you acknowledge and accept this risk.

We only ship our best-quality eggs, and regularly check for fertility. Eggs are carefully packaged to give you the best possible chance for success.

Hatching eggs will be shipped via UPS or USPS depending on which carrier has proven most reliable during the current shipping season.

Local Pickup

We do offer pickup at the farm for our local customers by appointment only. 

We are located about 25 minutes outside of Columbus. We travel to Columbus and Billings a few days each week, and we are happy to meet during those times.

We will also meet in Columbus for a $15 delivery fee when we are not in town.

Sexed Chicks

All chicks are sold straight run. We do not vent sex chicks.

Silkies require significant time and care to raise from hatch to maturity, and it often takes 5-6+ months to confidently determine sex without DNA testing. Rainbow layers typically cannot be reliably sexed until 8-9+ weeks of age. 

This year, we are shifting our focus to meet the demand for sexed pullets. Feathered pullets will be available in the summer to early fall, including silkies.

Please note that the time, care, and expense required to raise sexed pullets is substantial. These birds will not be inexpensive, and we encourage customers to plan and budget accordingly. 

Chicks are not vaccinated.

Payment

We do not maintain a waitlist and do not hold birds without payment.
